Testing What's Actually Protected
Knowing a board has safety switches on it isn't the same as knowing what they protect.
Circuit-by-circuit verification
Each circuit is tested to confirm whether earth leakage protection is present on it. Boards commonly protect power outlets while leaving lighting, air-conditioning and hot water unprotected.
Trip time measurement
A safety switch must operate within a specified time to be effective. Devices that still trip but do so too slowly are functionally past their useful life.
Device age and condition
Older RCDs lose sensitivity and can seize entirely if they've never been exercised. Age alone is reason enough to test rather than assume.
Recorded results
Test results are documented so you have evidence of what was found and what was corrected. That record is useful when leasing or selling.

Safety switch requirements were extended progressively over many years, applying to new circuits as they were installed rather than retrospectively across the whole house.
The result is that a home wired in stages, or renovated once or twice, often ends up with protection on some circuits and none on others. Nothing about that is unusual, and nothing about it is obvious without testing.
